Education is not just about academic learning and Laleham Lea offers a variety of specialist Lunchtime and After School Clubs to support and enhance our Curriculum. Our timetable includes something for all interests from Music and Sports to Latin and Art.

Many Clubs are included in the School Fees, however those which are run by external providers do attract an additional charge.

As part of our partnership with Purley Sports’ Club Our Multi Sports’ Club with Mr Judge takes place after PE on Wednesday and our Tennis Club with Terry Cooper Tennis (Years 2&3) takes place at school.

Music Lessons

Katherine Corrigan

Katherine studied at University College Cork in Ireland and graduated with a BMus and Diploma in Education. Whilst in Cork her love of folk music flourished and she has performed at the Shetland folk festival and performed in the United States.  As well as working as a Music Teacher and Piano Teacher at Laleham Lea, Katherine currently teaches music in four pre-schools and teaches piano at home. Katherine also composes songs for pre-school children and has released two albums for this age group-Katy and Kiki ‘High Five and more pre-school songs’ and Katy and Kiki ‘Clap with your Snowman and more pre-school Christmas songs’.

Miho Arakawa

Miho Arakawa has been playing the piano since the age of four. She received a distinction in her BMus and PGCE in Music in Tokyo before furthering her studies in London where she was awarded a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance. She currently is working as a Peripatetic Piano Teacher in five schools and accompanying Choirs and instrumentalists. Mrs Arakawa has been accompanying the Laleham Lea Choir since 2015.

Peter Long

Peter Long is the Musical Director of the acclaimed Ronnie Scott’s Big Band. He has had years of experience as a player, writer and bandleader. His clients have included; Sir Elton John, Bill Clinton, Sir Richard Branson and Claridges. He has also backed a number of artists including Jamie Cullum, Georgie Fame, Claire Sweeney, Jane McDonald, Sir Willard White, The Birmingham Royal Ballet, Jools Holland, Clare Teal, Joss Stone, Dionne Warwick – Katie Melhua, Mel C, Emma B, Will Young and Seth MacFarlane. Tony Williams

Tony studied guitar at The Musicians’ Institute and Guitar Institute in London. He has completed various courses with some of the world’s top guitarists studying Blues, Jazz, Rock, Classical, Sight reading, Performance and Teaching. Tony has toured all over the world as a performing guitarist with a huge and varied number of live acts. He is also a highly accomplished session musician who has played and recorded with the likes of The Temptations, Saxon, The Four Tops, Angie Brown, X Factor touring artists and Katrina and the Waves.

Ed Bruggemeyer

Ed’s 20 years of professional performance experience has been varied. Trained as a violinist at Trinity College of Music, London, classical music has been the foundation for other styles of performance. Alongside the more familiar classical worlds of orchestras, quartets and recording sessions, Ed’s work with groups such as Bowjangles, Pluck and Graffiti Classics – all originating from street performance, has taken him into the cabaret circuit and on to tours in many places around the world. It has also created opportunities to learn and develop a career as an actor.  Ed’s experience of teaching violin has been in a variety of London schools.  In addition, he has been found leading and assisting performance workshops in countries such as Ireland and Norway, as well as locations closer to home.
