School Life
Remote Learning
During the last Lockdown period all Teaching Staff were on site with Key Worker and ‘vulnerable’ Students in their individual ‘Class Bubbles’, working with Students both in class and online simultaneously. The full curriculum was delivered and we provided much needed consistency and continuity for all of our Students.
Teaching Staff used a variety of resources and methods to do this effectively including: ClassDojo, Google Classroom, Zoom, LanguageNut, Atom Learning, Language Angels and Get Epic to ensure we sustained excellent teaching for the best learning outcomes throughout this period and beyond.
Specialist Subject Teachers were also on site so that we can continued to offer breadth and depth in the curriculum. Specialist Teachers were teaching a mixture of live and uploaded lessons according to their weekly timetables.
Pupils had work set, submitted and marked via ClassDojo and Google Classroom. Pupils joined live classes from home throughout the day via Zoom or Google Classroom and live assemblies are held twice weekly.
Our excellent pastoral support remained in place for our whole school community throughout this difficult time.
What our Parents say:
“My wife and I would like to say how impressed we have been with the home schooling provision these past weeks. Teachers have been excellent in engaging the children in Years 4 and 2, respectively, both in the classroom and at home. It has been a revelation how much has been imparted and achieved and the Spanish Teacher has kept the Spanish lessons alive and very accessible.”
“Your communication with parents has been stellar- clear, regular and we have been kept fully informed of each step; thank you so much! Please may I also raise how impressive the Teachers have been. They have frequently been posting work late in the evenings, at the weekends and what seems like their break and lunch times onto Class Dojo. They are leaving messages about awarding Dojo’s, well done messages of praise and the quality of work is outstanding! I am certainly very impressed, if this is the quality of provision that our child is receiving in the classroom. They certainly are going to such extra lengths to give their Students the best possible lockdown education.”
“We just wanted to drop a line to say thank you to the (Laleham Lea) Teachers and support teachers who are doing great work. It is really tricky balancing home-schooling and working…the content that is on Class Dojo is well thought through & is engaging. The online live classes really are a help and my child enjoys seeing the rest of the class online. What makes a huge difference is that every piece of work she completes we upload and consistently the teachers review it and give a comment back. She reads the comments and it keeps her motivated to keep going with the work and keep submitting. So again big thank you to you all ….”
“Teachers are doing a marvellous job indeed, and I know many of the other Class Mums feel exactly the same, and I wanted to pass on my huge thanks.”
“Just a small note to thank you for your hard work in this first week of the return to school. I know that face to face teaching and synchronous online provision must present many challenges…I think you have done an amazing job…”
“Mrs Khan’s amazing video on multiplying decimals on ClassDojo really helped my son with his homework this weekend. It is great to have all the resources they need all in one place without having to worry about printing lots of work sheets.”
“May we say firstly a huge thank you for all of your work, enthusiasm, and support. (All the) Teachers are working so hard – and demonstrating their commitment and kindness during these difficult times.”
“Thank you so much for all that the School team are doing for our Children. It is very much appreciated and valued.”
