History
At Laleham Lea we not only view History as simple facts and dates; we encourage pupils to become detectives who explore the past.
History is taught through a topic based approach and gives pupils a chance to explore a wide range of information sources.
Pupils will become immersed in the period they are studying, looking at housing, food, clothing, education, religion, farming, trade and war to name but a few areas.
Independent project and research work will be encouraged in each new topic area. These topics will also be supported with outside visits to Historical sites where relevant and we also encourage Parents to take their children to places of interest related to the History topic being studied.
Geography
Engaging topic based Geography lessons encourage pupils to examine other parts of the world in great detail.
From learning to read maps, studying different climates and natural disasters to seeing how people live in other environments; Pupils will investigate human, physical and environmental aspects of Geography to learn about the world around them.
Students will gain comprehensive Geographical knowledge and understanding and be equipped with the skills they need to explain how the Earth’s features are shaped, interconnected and change over time at a variety of different scales.
