The Laleham Lea School Prayer:

This is our school.

Let peace live here,

May love live here,

Love of one another,

Love of mankind,

Love of life,

Love of God.

Let us remember, that as many hands build a house,

many hearts make our school.

Amen

At Laleham Lea, prayer and liturgy are at the heart of school life and flow naturally from our mission to place Gospel values at the centre of everything we do. Through daily prayer and regular liturgical celebration, we nurture a loving and welcoming community in which children are encouraged to grow spiritually, intellectually, socially and emotionally.

Prayer and liturgy provide our children with meaningful opportunities to develop a personal relationship with God and an awareness of His love. They help to shape strong moral values, deepen understanding, and foster compassion, tolerance and respect for others. In line with our Catholic identity, prayer is inclusive, reflective and accessible to all, enabling every child to participate with confidence and reverence.

Prayer and Liturgy at Laleham Lea is planned, purposeful and age-appropriate, encouraging active participation and leadership from pupils while celebrating the richness of the Church’s traditions and the liturgical year. Each week begins with the Celebration of the Word led by our Head teacher. We regularly celebrate Mass together either in our own Long Room or in the calm serenity of the John Fisher School Chapel. Year groups also take turns to attend Mass at John the Baptist in a weekly rota. Our Year 6 students also visit their peers in Reception – Year 5 on Wednesday mornings and help to lead The Wednesday Word liturgy.

Each classroom has its own Prayer Table which is dressed with a display including drawings and prayers by the pupils to reflect the Liturgical Calendar and current RE topics.

Our weekly prayer club welcomes students from all year groups and during the Month of the Holy Rosary, parents are also invited to attend and pray the Rosary together.

Through prayer and liturgy, our children are guided to recognise their God-given talents, respond with kindness to the needs of others, and grow into well-balanced individuals who live out Gospel values in their daily lives.

Please see our Prayer and Liturgy Policy for more details

Our Governor Father Peter visited us on Ash Wednesday when we all received ashes as we begin our Lenten journey.
