Black History Month started in the UK October 1987 by Akyaaba Addai-Sebo, who was a coordinator of special projects in the Ethnic Minorities Unit at the Greater London Council (GLC). Black History Month focused on the history and achievements of African, Caribbean and Black British people.
At Laleham Lea we will be celebrating with assemblies and classroom-based activities as well as interactive workshops on Thursday October 5th run by Big Foot Arts Education.
In the Long Room we have a beautiful display based around our prayer tree with clothing, books and artifacts students have brought in to share with their friends.
